Department Overview:
The history of Maxillofacial Surgery in the field of medical science is not very long. In the 8th decade of the last century, Maxillofacial Surgery was started in our country with a separate entity. Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery first started in Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College & Hospital with a 10 bedded inpatient facilities in 1999. This branch of Medical and Dental science expands its activities and at present Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department has got in 24 general beds and cabin facilities also.
Oral & maxillofacial surgery in Bangladesh is advancing steadily towards an international standard & Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College & Hospital is one of the pride centre.
